City will be hoping to break the £700m revenue barrier this season – breaking United’s record in the process.

Exclusive: Manchester City are hoping to break the £700m revenue barrier this season – with the treble winners poised to blow arch-rivals United’s record in the process.

Treble-winning Manchester City are confident they will break the £700m revenue barrier this season – setting a British record and knocking rivals United out of the water in the process.

United currently hold the honor after they brought in £627m in 2018-19, and earlier this week Old Trafford officials announced they would top it with predictions of between £630m and £640m for the current year.

However, the Chiefs at their neighbours, believe they will reap more than £700m on the back of a historic season of success at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola.

Money from broadcast, media and commercial advertising will make up the bulk of the sum that will cement City’s place at the top of football’s rich list – with £300m from their run to glory in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

The final figure could be well below the world record £726m Barcelona hit in 2020 before the financial crisis. However, City is expected to cash in on its European glory in Istanbul after the end of the report campaign, which ends this month.

City’s retention figures for 2022-23 are up 81 per cent, while their new home kit has outsold the previous season’s sales by 84 per cent since their launch on May 19.

Prize money is also important, as there is money in the pot for their successes in Europe, the Premier League and the FA Cup. When TV money and ticket sales are added in, their Champions League win alone was worth £113m.

Commercial revenue is likely to reach £300m, with match day revenues of around £70m completing a rosy picture. While City may break the world football record next year, they still have some way to go to reach the mark in world sports, set by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

The Texas mega franchise recently became the first sports organization on the planet to break the billion dollar mark thanks to a slew of new sponsorships. The ads in AT&T’s vast and sophisticated playground alone brought in $220 million in revenue.

However, City are set to retain their place at the top of the Deloitte Money League for the third year in a row and widen the gap with Real Madrid – the club they beat in the Champions League semi-finals.
