Chapter 223: Summary
The previous chapter begins with Ijichi’s curious gaze fixating on Gojo, questioning him about his experience in the prison world. Gojo responds, juxtaposing the time lapse he experienced with being deeply immersed in the work. It felt as if a week had gone by so quickly, and yet the duration felt so endless that he had no desire to endure it again. Intrigued by the implications of his use of the Unlimited Void during the Shibuya Incident, Gojo turns to Ijichi for information regarding the affected individuals. Ijichi offers reassurance, assuring him that all those affected have since recovered. As Gojo climbed to the top of a towering edifice, he said, “Let’s get started, Yotaim, serious.”
The scene transitions seamlessly to Sukuna, as Uraume relays uncertain details to him about the time and place of the impending confrontation. Sukuna dismisses the necessity of such detail, sensing an overpowering aura of malevolence emanating from a distant structure.
A flashback ensues, in which Gakuganji officially informs Gogo of the demise of his heinous act Yaga. Amazingly, Gojo nonchalantly replies, “Okay.” Grandpa inquires about the absence of animosity directed towards Gojo due to his actions, to which Gojo admits he has no qualms, taking responsibility for his stamping and the manipulation that higher-ups imposed on Grandpa. Upon hearing their exchange, Panda becomes privy to their conversation while Gogo inquires about Yaga’s last words.
Grandpa reveals Yaga’s revelation regarding the creation of cursed corpses, prompting Gojo to comment, “You seem to have changed, Grandpa,” acknowledging Grandpa’s decision to refrain from reporting it to the superiors. The next page unveils a horrific revelation – the annihilation of all bosses. Within a speech bubble, Gojo suggests that things might improve with Grandpa taking the lead. Looks like Gojo single-handedly eliminated the top spots! Upon finishing his discussion with Grandpa, Gojo leaves, leaving Ejichi puzzled as to why Gojo asked for his help.
Gojo explains, “Don’t you see? You are the person I trust the most.” A flashback concludes, and the narration returns to the present. Standing firmly behind Gojo, Ijichi erects a formidable barrier. Immersed in wistful contemplation, Ejichi contemplates his own perceived shortcomings, viewing himself as someone who avoids challenges but lacks the courage to truly escape. However, he finds solace in his unwavering belief in the strongest places in him. There is no conceivable way he could fall short of this expectation.
Meanwhile, Utaime performs a ritual dance known as “Solo Solo Kinku”. Her cursed technique amplifies the total output of the cursed energy of her and her fellow witches. The skill of wizards lies in their ability to efficiently ignore the steps required to use their cursed techniques. However, both Gojo and Utahime, along with Ijichi and Grandpa, meticulously execute every gesture and chant necessary, to activate their cursed techniques.
These events culminate in a climactic moment as Gojo unleashes a 200% “hollow purple” attack towards Sukuna! Overwhelmed, Sukuna seeks to resist the intense attack, utterly destroying every edifice in its path. The narrator explains that Sukuna misconstructed Gojo’s actions due to the formation of Ijichi’s barrier. Although Sukuna sensed the presence, he had failed to anticipate the massive surge of cursed energy until the very last moment.
