Leeds United have announced the arrival of Daniel Farke as their new head coach on a four-year contract at Elland Road

Daniel Farke has been confirmed as the new Leeds United manager on a four-year deal.

Mail Sport revealed last week that the German has agreed terms to take charge of the Whites.

Farke arrived at Elland Road on Tuesday to finalize his contract and will now take charge of his first day of pre-season training on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old will be joined at Leeds by coaches Eddie Rimmer, Christopher John and Chris Domogala, who have all worked with him during his time at Norwich.

“I would like to thank everyone for the really warm welcome and I am really grateful in this moment to work for such a great club,” Varkey said.

I am humbled at this time, I know the responsibility of living up to all expectations and I want to return the trust I have shown.

“The most important thing is to create togetherness and unity within this club again and from today on I will work on that with the staff and the players and I am confident our fans will be there when we need them. I can’t wait for the first game of the season to kick off.

Farc’s first match of the tournament will be against Cardiff City at Elland Road on 6 August.

Leeds vice-chairman Parag Marath said: “Following a thorough recruitment process, we are excited to confirm the appointment of Daniel as our first team manager.

His record in the Championship is clear, and I admire his leadership and his plans to guide us into the Premier League.

“We welcome Daniel and his staff to the club and we are looking forward to a strong season.”

Leeds defended Farc for the first time at the beginning of last month, shortly after it was dismissed by the German team Borussia Monchengladbach.

He twice led Norwich to Premier League promotion as champions, in 2019 and 2021, and impressed the Whites in early talks.

Farke then emerged as Leeds’ first choice last week after being formally interviewed, along with other shortlisted candidates Patrick Vieira and Scott Parker.

The Whites have been without a coach since the departure of Sam Allardyce at the end of the season after failing in his four-game mission to keep the club in the Premier League.

Leeds were waiting for the Football Association to approve a takeover by 49ers Enterprises before announcing who would manage them in the Championship.

The club remains hopeful that the US group’s purchase of Italian Andrea Radrizzani will be given the go-ahead in the coming days.

However, with pre-season training starting this week, Leeds wanted to install their new boss.
